I'm glad I had a praying mother:
One who talked with God each day
For I first heart the sweet Name "Jesus"
As she taught me how to pray
RECITATION
I remember clearly even now
That night as I knelt there
And spoke to God the words she taught
Me to say in my bedtime prayer
"Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray Thee Lord, my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray Thee Lord, my soul to take"
In memory I can now recall
Her voice 'most clear as then
As she told me to add these words
"In Jesus' Name, Amen."
She took me to the house of God
When I was very young;
But all that I can now recall
Are those grand old gospel songs:
I remember hearing Mother sing;
And others too, but then ---
I know that someone must have prayed
"In Jesus' Name, Amen.
When I was yet of tender age
God called Mother to the Fold:
In pain, before death came she sang
Of that Land where we'll never grow old.
At the funeral many tears were shed,
But this was not the end...
In Heaven Mother's praying still:
"In Jesus' Name, Amen".
