The New Man in Town

He arrived by boat one day
Six cents was all he had to his name
But he was looking for work that would pay
For loafing wasn't his game.

Many snickered and turned their noses up
He didn't fit their image of what an employee should be
They didn't know the things that he had given up
Or of the pain that he felt when he lost his wife you see

He said his son was only three when his wife had been killed
It was the result of an automobile accident many years ago
It left him with two kids to raise without a mother to help when they were ill
But the proud papa showed me pictures of not only the kids but of his wife long ago

And now he has moved on to a place that will pay better
He has repairs for his boat that he must make
So he gave verbal notice and not a letter
He was leaving for a different job that he would take

So this story is not only about the new man in town
But also the impact that was made on my life
The way he was treated made me frown
And God quickened a scripture concerning this man's life.

From The Heart of Angel

The above story/poem is true it happened this week at the place where I work. Two scriptures were quickened to my mind when I met Mike. The first one is found in the Book of Matthew 25:31-46 where it talks about the Son of man coming back in His glory to judge the nations. And like a shepherd that separates his sheep from the goats thus he will do like wise. And he said to them…"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." And the Sheep will ask when did they do this? "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." And we go on to see that the goats didn't do any of this and they were cast out. Actually this is something that will happen one day. It is not something that has happened already. The second scripture that was quickened to me is found in Hebrews 13:2…"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Mike was a stranger to us at work, the question is did the Lord place Mike there for a short time to see what our attitudes would be and how we would treat him? Do you have someone in your life that would be like Mike where you have turned aside from him or her because they didn't fit perfectly into what you thought they should be? Think about this and then have a talk with the Lord.
